It has been quite some time now, but there is good reason for a new post here. I have been working on a new downtempo mix for about 3 years now, and I think it has finally been completed. In the past few months I have been having lots of positive, somewhat lucid dreams. Using these memory fragments of vacation-related dreams and Enrique's Proton Radio deadline for motivation, I have arrived at a finished product that satisfies my standards. This mix [Dreamflow] is meant to highlight track selection more than actual mixing, but I think it moves along quite nicely. Close your eyes, think of beaches, far away villages and hopefully you'll wake up somewhere nice...

Well, I'm back in the game with a few gigs coming up this month [and early next month]. I will be opening at Alphahouse on 12/20 for their holiday party at the Upstairs Lounge. Additionally, UOO will be hosting my going away celebration [generally called Asylum] at the Upstairs Lounge on 1/2. If you are in St. Louis during either of those weekends, please stop by and support! This is the last chance to see me play here in the near future. Oh, also check out the new Extrawelt album if you haven't already [Schone Neue]. It is textbook-definition well produced techno, and even includes a one-off dubstep track to change up the pace. All in all, life is good with my fiance, and hopefully I will see some supporters at my last couple of events. Hasta luego...

Work has really consumed my life. It's getting harder to motivate myself to get out and about on the weekends these days. Plus, after recently attending a closing party at Space, Ibiza, it is hard to imagine having that great a time again locally. Couple that with the fact that I will most likely be moving in a few months, and my DJing motivation reaches an all time low. Maybe I'll produce some music. Judging by the fact that I've been talking about producing for over a year now and have no complete tracks to date, it doesn't seem like that is very probable either! It looks like I am officially taking a break from music until I can get everything else in my life under control. Priorities. In the meantime, check out my favorite new random Palin quote generator!

So I got rid of the reviews section of my website...because god knows when I would actually get around to writing decent music reviews. I replaced it with a music section with hope that this will motivate me to produce some decent music in the near future. I would like to at least put up some samples of what I am working on from time to time, so check back in a little bit. I have also added a new mix, which was recorded live last weekend. No fancy effects, just straight up fast mixing and an impeccable tracklist. It should be perfect for your summer. No new gigs to speak of. See you all soon...

Thanks to everyone who came to all day space last weekend at Mercury. I am in the process of re-recording my mix, which should be posted online shortly. I had more fun DJing that night than I've had in a long time...that night really reminded me why I even began doing this in the first place. At the end of the day, it may be nothing more than a hobby, but the feeling of being able to connect to other people through music is unmatched by any other feeling on the planet. Once again, I thank you for your support and be on the lookout for a new mix...

24 is a much better number than 23, but getting older is not as much fun as it used to be. Going out on a Wednesday night doesn't really work when you have to get up at 6AM the next morning. I could really use a vacation right about now. As far as music goes, I have been on a bit of a break from electronic music. I think it will come back to me in time, but techno isn't quite doing what it used to for me. I have been listening to a lot more indie rock, so my album recommendation of the month is Beach House - Devotion. If you are in the mood for something more downtempo, you have got to pick that album up. Now for my UnitOvOne mandatory show plug of the month: Come to the Electro Sessions on 6/6/08 at the Upstairs Lounge. I will be playing some French electro a la Ed Banger/Justice.

So it's been a while since I've posted anything in the "news" section of my website. I know, I have been getting a little lazy when it comes to updating the site, so I'll try a bit harder this spring and summer. I just visited Austin, Texas for the first time, and I must say, that city blew away my expectations. It seems to be very forward thinking, liberal, and suprisingly beautiful compared to some of the other Texas cities [that will go unnamed]. It reminds me of Portland in the Southwest. I really needed that 85 degree weather for a few days...it really helped me realize that summer is coming up here shortly. This summer is going to be fantastic, and it will end with [drum roll please]...a trip to Spain!!! Finally I will get to visit the country I have been admiring over the internet for the past few years. My last trip covered more of central Europe, so I never had a chance to make it to the Mediterranean countries. The thought of Barcelona in September is really going to tide me over until summer arrives in St. Louis. I hear the techno scene in Barcelona is supposed to be a little better than in STL ;)

I just added a bunch of future dates for shows I will be playing in '08! It looks like this year is starting out in a really good way. Looking forward to opening for Thomas Barnett and co. at Mercury in a couple weeks. 70 degree weather in January can't be bad either.

So I am attempting to work on a live PA and a few remix projects that I've had on my mind for quite some time now. Hopefully I can motivate myself to actually create my own music [and be happy with my product]. I will post the material if/when it's complete...

Just got back from an amazing weekend in New York. Cheers to Mr. Harris for a great time. Got to see Loco Dice at Cielo on Friday night...what an amazing show [despite not lasting to see Adam Beyer later that night]. Manhattan is a crazy, crazy place that fails to waste a square inch of property ANYWHERE. I will definitely make it back there in the future to visit friends and get my fair share of entertainment. Til next time.

I finished up a new mix which I have aptly named 'Weekender' after a long week of track selection, practice mixes, etc. This should ring a few bells for those of you who have heard one of my live sets in the past year. I decided to highlight the Ableton Live ability to hold long transitions and play several tracks simultaneously. Twenty tracks in 62 minutes should hold your attention ;)

Where did the summer go? Anyway, I'm working on a new mix that should be complete in week or so. I promise [it's been far too long].

Ok...I'm back in action with a new Faderfox midi controller [mouse-free Ableton control = domination] and inspiration from 'Justice - [Insert symbol in shape of cross here]'. If you haven't checked that album out yet, it will blow your mind. High energy, snare-heavy, bass-lacking breaks that only the French could create. Adam Freeland even threw in a few tracks off the album when he played here at 1014. Well once I get moved into the new apartment, I will be prepping for a few upcoming gigs...hope to see you there. Check out the mixes section in the next few weeks...there should be a new one [or two] soon.
